                       The great Japanese corporation Sony has unleashed its R series in India in this early November. The company had mentioned that "the smartphone has been designed for the Indian lifestyle".While the sony's market depletes in India, this move may favour its comeback in the Indian market. The smartphone comes in two variants as R1 and R1 plus having 2 GB ram/16 GB storage and 3 GB ram/32 GB storage respectively.
                                       

Design

                        The smartphone's body is designed in a bar form factor. The smartphone weighs around 154 grams. The phone's body has the following dimension of 146 x 73.2 x 8.9 mm. The phone's body is incorporated with 2.5D curved glass technology. The phone's bevel is chamfered. The power button and the volume rockers find its position on the right side of the body. The nano sim ports with a dedicated micro-sd slot are placed in quartile left edge of the smartphone. The 3.5mm headphone jack is placed on the top-left edge of the smartphone. The phone's bottom is filled with the micro-USB type c port and dedicated noise cancellation mic. The body above the display have the earpiece, specified sensors and notification led indicator. The rear side of the smartphone has the camera at its top-right corner, and a LED flash finds its point below the camera. The Xperia logo is at the centre of the rear body. There is no provision of a fingerprint sensor.
                           

Operating System                                   

The smartphone runs on android nougat 7.0 with a promised upgrade to Oreo 8.0. The android is customised by the company's own Xperia UI on top.

                           The phone's display has been built with a TFT panel, and the phone has a 5.2-inch screen. The phone comes with a resolution of 1280*720 (HD) which may spoil the viewing experience. The phone's display has a 16:9 ratio. The phone's notification led which will lit up when there is a notification. The phone's screen has a 69.7% screen to body ratio. The phone's display has 282 nits brightnesses capacity. The phone comes with an ambient light sensor increasing the sunlight legibility. However, there is no official information on glass protection resisting shattering and scratches.


Connectivity

                            The phone has dual sim support. The phone is 4G capable and furnished with Volte. The phone comes with all other generals like wi-fi, Bluetooth, hotspot and GPS. The phone supports OTG (on the go) operation. The phone comes with UDC feature (Uplink Data Compression) through which augmented data speeds can be attained. The smartphone has a screen mirroring facility.NFC is not provided.

Storage

                        As mentioned earlier, the phone comes in two variants one with 2 GB ram and 16 GB storage and the other 3 GB ram and 32 GB storage. The 3 Gb RAM must give a smoother experience than the 2 GB variant. One of its major advantages is that it comes with a dedicated micro sd slot instead of a hybrid slot and has an expandable capacity up to 128 GB.

Camera

                                        The smartphone is camera-centric while going through the camera specifications. When peeping into camera area, the rear has a 13MP camera with many features like predictive autofocus, 8x clear camera zoom, 12 modes, 10 picture effects, ISO value adjustments are also provided to enhance the quality of the photos in the night time. The front has an 8MP front camera with the same set of features as available for the rear camera. The phone also comes with portrait mode.there is no proper information on the lens apertures.

Processor

                           The phone packs in Qualcomm's snapdragon 430(MSM8937) along with Adreno 505. The processor is octa-core and clocked at 1.4 GHz. The processor is built through 28nm technological process. The phone's maximum download speed is 150 Mbps and maximum upload speed is 75 Mbps(X6LTE technology). The processor may multitask well but when coming to gaming it should face some glitches due to the clock speed.


Other features

                        The phone has a battery capacity of 2620mah and it does not support fast charging.the phone is available in two colours black and silver. The phone can be grabbed in both e-commerce stores like Flipkart, Amazon and other retail stores. The 2 GB ram variant is priced around 13,000 INR and the 3 GB ram variant is priced around 15,000 INR.
