My review on Samsung One UI

Top 7 features of Samsung One UI after a one month hands-on:

Samsung is one of the renowned and consistent brands in the smartphone world. Samsung smartphones are appreciated for their long term reliance capability and its quality. Since Samsung entered the android galaxy, Samsung has gained a huge loyal customer base and its one of the toughest competitor for its rivals. Samsung has infiltrated many intuitive features in its smartphones like the pop-up view and the mind grooming experience. However, the TouchWiz UI which was seen on its previous smartphones was seen sluggish and the users slammed it for its hitches during the daily interactions and stamped it as a hanging interface. Samsung listened to its customers and revamped its UI and gave a subtle change to all the icons and the user experience has seen a uphold than its former in its next version called experience UI. Samsung never stopped innovating and reviewed the customer's expectation and deployed a drastic change in its UI and released a new UI called One UI which is now getting heartwarming praises from the fellow folks worldwide.

I had my galaxy running Android Oreo with Samsung's One UI creamed on top of it. My heart had gone through a roll and chill after getting a notification in my galaxy regarding the android pie update with this One UI as it was the time where everyone was getting blushed after using the One UI. I got the update at the end of April month and immediately I downloaded it without a delay. So here are the top seven features of the one UI from the hands-on review after a month.

1. One-hand usage

The name itself intends the moto of the interface designed in a manner being viable for the one-handed usage. The user response is snappier than before and whenever an app is opened swiping it down makes it more accessible to the options placed in the corners of the applications. It helps to reach the application's much-used options within your thumb's swirls without having a sweat. But this option is supported only on the Samsung suite of apps like the messages, phone and its allies. The concept is a great upgrade in the UI and no other manufacturers had provided a user experience like this and Samsung is the pioneer and the credit bearer for tucking this kind of innovation in a UI. I enjoy the reach of search option in my files app and the native' s phone app.

2. Dark mode

Another new feature is the introduction of the dark mode in the user interface. Previously, I didn't have an impressive thought on the impact of this option in the UI. But after started using the mode the smartphone had relieved a genuine amount of strain from my eye while using the smartphone at the night time. There is also an option to automate the activation of the dark mode by intimating the mode to get activated at a specific time. Yes, you can set the time at which the darkness should haunt your screen. I set it at 7 p.m. in my smartphone and it waked up at the right time everyday flawlessly. The dark mode can be switched on by tapping the display option in the settings menu. The dark mode also shows its reflection on the assistant menu while using.

3. Icons

The icons got a whole new look and they are dressed with new punchy colours popping some properties iterating a galaxy. They are a bit enlarged than before entangled with ergonomics augmenting the user interaction. The icon frames remain the same as seen before in the experience interface. The recently used applications can be perched from the recent section and the icons are placed in a separate tray down the recent apps and you can jump into the required app from that space. The icons are a bit cartoony but got used to it.

4. Battery life

After the update, there is a noticeable improvement in battery life. After a mediocre usage, the smartphone managed to light up for 15 hours in a single charge. The dark mode also pays some contribution for this attribute as the panel usually consumes less power when the panel doesn't push the cells to light up when the screen is black.

5. Auto-rotate on the go

One of the fabulous features I liked is the addition of the tiny auto-rotate toggle at the bottom of the screen, which appears on the screen letting the user auto-rotate the screen even when the auto-rotate is turned off in the settings menu. It comes handy while watching videos in chrome and while in the need to use the smartphone in the landscape mode.

6. The floating keyboard

The keyboard has got a new additional feature making the keyboard dynamic in nature allowing it to free flow wherever you pull it. A pill-shaped handle is given at the bottom of this keyboard with which this comes into manifestation. One of the thwart experienced is the lack of the keyboard's ridiculous positioning while typing in the notes app or the messaging app and while using the keyboard in the split-screen view. Every time one has to move the keyboard to and fro to a position such that the typing content won't be hidden.

7.Recent apps

The recent apps section has got a whole new look in this update. The app previews in the section have a form of vertical cards like in the Miui instead of the old horizontal cards which used to be dull. Pulling an app down redirects into the respective app portraying a user-friendly nature. As said before, the recent section has a separate tray for the recently used apps from which one can get into the required app.
